Should I Buy an Electric Chevrolet SUV in Dixon, IL?

Should I Buy an Electric Chevrolet SUV in Dixon, IL?

The Chevrolet lineup of all-electric vehicles at Ken Nelson Chevrolet is growing, and one of the newest arrivals is the 2022 Bolt EUV. This innovative model is designed to meet the needs of many SUV buyers, so here’s a guide to help you decide if it’s the right choice for you in Dixon, Illinois.

Efficiency and emissions

If efficiency and eco-friendliness are top priorities for you, it’s hard to do better than the Bolt EUV. This electric SUV could potentially save you thousands of dollars in gasoline costs over the years, and its zero-emissions performance is a huge plus for keeping Dixon green and beautiful.

Range and charging

The Bolt EUV boasts a driving range of up to 247 miles and can be charged at home or at a public station.[1] If you commute from Dixon to Rockford or Chicago’s western suburbs where there are numerous charging stations to choose from, staying powered up will be easy. However, if you’re mainly driving long distances in rural Illinois where no charging stations are available, a gas-powered SUV like the Chevy Equinox or Trailblazer might be the better choice.

Size and seating

If a compact SUV is what you need, an electric SUV like the Bolt EUV delivers. This model has room for five passengers across its two rows, including more than 39 inches of rear legroom. It can also hold up to 56.9 cubic feet of cargo. That’s far more than what an electric car offers! However, if you need to carry more passengers or need more cargo space, you’re better off with a three-row Chevy model like the Traverse or Tahoe.

Still have questions about choosing the 2022 Bolt EUV or any upcoming electric SUV from Chevrolet? Visit us here at Ken Nelson Chevrolet in Dixon and we’ll be happy to provide the answers you need.

Which Motor Oil Should You Use for Your Chevrolet or GMC Truck in Dixon, IL?

Which Motor Oil Should You Use for Your Chevrolet or GMC Truck in Dixon, IL?

To keep your Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra performing at its peak, you’ll have to regularly change its oil. And since motor oil comes in a wide variety of grades and formulations, it’s crucial to choose the right type for your General Motors pickup. Here’s a guide to help you choose which oil is the right fit for your Chevy or GMC truck.

Types of oil

There are two main types of oil: conventional and synthetic. Conventional oil is more affordable, but it breaks down more quickly — and it isn’t suited to very high heat. Synthetic oil, on the other hand, is purer and lasts longer, but costs more than conventional oil does because it’s been specially engineered.

Oil is categorized by varying grades of viscosity, such as 10W-30 and 10W-40. The number with the W refers to the oil’s viscosity in the winter at 0 degrees Fahrenheit. The second number is the oil’s viscosity at high temperatures. Lower numbers equal thinner oil.  For instance, a 5W-30 oil will be thinner in the winter than 10W-30. Similarly, 10W-30 will be thinner than 10W-40 at high temperatures.

Making the right choice for your truck

If you’re on a budget and only use your truck for light or moderate tasks, consider conventional oil or a synthetic-conventional blend. However, if you regularly tow or haul heavy loads, or drive your truck long distances frequently, conventional oil isn’t up to the job. Invest in synthetic oil to ensure maximum protection for your truck’s powertrain.

Seasonal temperatures also impact which oil is right for your truck. During the winter, consider a formulation with a low winter viscosity, so it can freely circulate through the engine. On the other hand, in the summer, reach for oil that stays thick in the heat, since overly thin oil won’t do a good job lubricating the powertrain.

No matter which you choose, always be sure to follow manufacturer recommendations when picking oil for your vehicle. We’ll help you make the right choice when you bring your car in for an oil change at Ken Nelson Chevrolet in Dixon, Illinois.

Chevy Multi-Flex Tailgate Will Be Available on 2022 Silverado HD in Dixon, IL

2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD | Dixon, IL

Chevrolet has announced that the 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD will offer the automaker’s innovative Multi-Flex Tailgate. This must-have feature has six configurations to accommodate a range of cargo transportation needs and to make bed access easier. The 2022 Silverado HD is coming this summer to Ken Nelson Chevrolet, and here’s what you can expect.

The Multi-Flex Tailgate has both an inner gate and an outer gate that you can adjust for different tasks. For instance, with the primary gate load stop, the outer gate lays flat and a load stop flips up, giving your bed extra length. The inner gate also has a load stop, keeping long items stacked on top of others in place.

Multi-Flex also lets you fold the inner gate down flat so you can get closer to the cargo in the bed, or you can convert the folded inner gate into a full-width step. The inner gate can even convert into a flat work surface, so you can use a computer with the available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot or have an on-the-go tool bench.

In addition to the Multi-Flex Tailgate, you can get the available Power Up/Down tailgate option on the LT, LTZ, or High Country trims of the Silverado HD.

Previously, the Multi-Flex tailgate has only been offered on the Silverado 1500, which we also have at Ken Nelson Chevrolet. For pickup truck drivers who need the robust towing and hauling performance of the Silverado HD here in Dixon, Illinois, this is great news. Buy your Silverado 1500 or Silverado HD here at Ken Nelson Chevrolet.
