Ready to buy a new truck in Dixon, Illinois? Ken Nelson Chevrolet has the ride for you: the redesigned 2023 Colorado. It promises to be a big hit with recreational adventurers and hard-working handymen alike.
For the 2023 model year, the automaker gave the midsize pickup more off-roading capabilities in the first-ever Colorado Trail Boss. It has a 2-inch lifted suspension, greater ground clearance, and a wider front track. Select the drive mode that’s right for the situation, such as Terrain (rocks), Baja (sand), or Off-Road (dirt/grass).
This tremendous truck comes in three different chassis configurations based on the trim level. The WT, LT, and Z71 have the standard setup, the Trail Boss has a lift with wide stance, and the ZR2 has the high-performance ultra-lift with wide stance.
Regardless of which version you’re cruising on, the truck will be powered by an optimized 2.7-liter Turbo engine that’s ready to roll.
The 2023 Colorado also sports a redesigned look inside and out, flaunting a modern style that’s ready for work or fun. New tech features are abundant, too. Enjoy the new 11.3-inch-diagonal infotainment screen, the biggest standard screen in its class.
Ken Nelson Chevrolet prides itself on having a diverse selection of pre-owned vehicles on our lot. That makes it easy to find just the right ride for your rural family in Illinois. Here are some tips for buying a used car in Dixon.
Know your limits
Before you start test-driving models that you’re interested in, it’s a good idea to set a budget. That way, you can choose to consider only those vehicles within your budget not outside of it. If you’re paying cash for your car, remember to allocate a portion of your funds toward insurance and registration costs.
Aim to find the right fit
Determine what type of vehicle would be best for your family. Maybe it’s a well-rounded truck like the Silverado 1500 that can tow and haul all you need it to. Or perhaps it’s a family-oriented SUV like the efficient Equinox to transport you on commutes and day trips around Illinois. It’s also wise to establish a “must-have” list of features you absolutely can’t live without, such as heated seats, adaptive cruise control, or roof rails.
Leverage vehicle history reports
Here at Ken Nelson Chevrolet, we guarantee transparency at every step including the shopping process. Access the vehicle history report of any used model in our inventory for more confidence that you’ll drive home a safe, sound, and high-quality Chevy.

During the colder months here in Illinois, snow and ice can do a number on your car. Here are some easy ways to keep your car clean this winter.
Protect the Finish
Keeping your car’s paint job looking as fresh as possible will improve its resale value, and let’s face it, it looks nice. Applying wax or sealant helps to protect from salt as well as chips and nicks from stones and ice. A protective coat of wax lasts about three months, so do it at the end of autumn before the weather cools down. You can go a step further with a high-tech, polymer sealant available at an auto parts store.
Rinsing your car with a pressure washer, either at home or at a car wash, is a good way to remove salt and small rocks that can damage the finish. Pay attention to the underside and wheel wells, too, as these areas are especially vulnerable to corrosion. Make sure to dry the locks and door seals after rinsing to keep them from freezing.
Keep Mud in its Place
The inside of the car needs protection, too. Mud and snow tracked into the car can leave dirt and salt stains on carpeting, so invest in some all-weather floor mats. It is easy to remove them, hose them down and then put them back when they are dry.
Chevy Equinox models from 2016 and after were all named as top choices for teen drivers in the latest “Safe Vehicles for Teens” list released annually by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
In order to receive a spot on this respected IIHS list, cars must receive ratings of “acceptable” or “good” in the IIHS driver-side small overlap front test. The Equinox also had to earn “good” safety ratings in the moderate overlap front, roof strength, side, and head restraints tests.
More standards had to be met to get on the list. The 2020 Chevy Equinox also received at least 4 stars in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) side and front tests to go along with an overall score of 4 stars at minimum. A spot on the list also required a score of at least 3 out of 5 on the Consumer Reports emergency handling capability test.
The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox was named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS after proving its mettle in crash tests. Teen Driver is a safety feature that enables you to determine which features will be activated and which will be limited while your teen drives. Teen Driver will track your child’s performance and present you with an in-vehicle report card detailing their habits.

Though some people are already counting down to fall, there’s still plenty of summer days left to enjoy. If you have a Chevy Colorado or a Silverado, it’s easy to transform your truck bed to enhance your summer fun. Here are some simple ways to do that.
Truck Bed Picnic
Take a meal outdoors with your loved ones while avoiding sitting directly in the grass. All you need to bring are some pillows, a blanket, and your favorite homemade or takeout food.
Truck Bed Movie Night
You don’t have to go to a drive-in to catch a movie in your truck. Grab a laptop or a tablet and watch your favorite movies in the bed of your truck. All you need to do is blow up an air mattress that fits, get some blankets and pillows, and lay back and watch. And pack some movie snacks and drinks in case you have the munchies.
Truck Bed Camping
Thanks to Chevy technology and towing capabilities, you might have already used your truck for camping. Consider truck bed camping in your backyard or driveway, to adhere to social distancing standards while still having a delightful night outside of the house.
